Chilidren Sleep Time


Every person has a number of hours of sleep different, so far people only say sleep is enough for 8 hours a day. But this does not apply to the children, because the younger the age of the child then hours more sleep.

The experts set correctly bedtime can improve sleep quality and quantity of infants and toddlers. Children who are not getting enough sleep will affect the personality, memory, attention and emotions of the child. Usually the child will not easily angered, could not concentrate and have a weak memory.

Here is the number of hours of sleep a child needs based on age according to the National Sleep Foundation:

1. Newborn 2-month-old need to sleep 10.5 to 18 hours.
2. Infants 3 months to 11 months need to sleep 9 to 12 hours and added with a nap.
3. Children aged 1 to 3 years old need to sleep 12 to 14 hours.
4. Children ages 3 to 5 years need to sleep 11 to 13 hours.
5. Children ages 5 to 12 years need to sleep 10 to 11 hours.
6. Sleep teenagers need at least 8.5 to 9.5 hours.
7. Adults need to sleep 7 to 9 hours.


Every person who gets a sufficient amount will be happy when waking in the morning, including children. If children get enough sleep the amount the child would be eager to go to school, can receive a lesson well and other benefits.

"Trouble sleeping patterns and routines usually occurs because of the long-term process which has unwittingly become a habit," says Lauren Hale, an assistant professor at Stony Brook University Medical Center, New York, as quoted by CNN, Tuesday (15/9/2009 ).

In order for children to have proper sleep patterns, make it a habit to get kids into the bedroom an hour before bedtime. And do not get children to sleep because of watching television or reading a story book, and try to sleep well child.
