Q3 09, Acer Replace Dell in Position 2


PC shipments increase large enough place in the body of Acer. This achievement is automatically confirmed Acer to occupy second position in the world PC market.

Quoted by Yahoo Tech, Thursday (15/10/2009), IDC released a report PC shipments in the third quarter of this year. The result, Dell’s position had always digawangi Dell. While Dell had to come down in the third position with a 8.4 percent decline in reach.

Although globally Dell down in the third position, but in the U.S. PC market Dell is still occupying the second position as the largest PC vendor. While the position is still controlled by a HP, good for PC shipments in the U.S. and the world.

Overall, the world’s PC shipments increased 2.3 percent to 78.1 million units. IDC calls this year as ‘year of healing’ for some time after recent declines are large enough in the PC market, as much as 6.8 percent in the first quarter and 2.4 percent in the second quarter.

“Acer controlled almost all the netbook market and cheap notebooks in almost all countries in the world,” said IDC Program Director Tracker Loren Loverde.

Around the world, HP managed to sell 15.8 million units during the third quarter of this year. This figure increased approximately 9.3 pesen than the same quarter last year. HP’s PC market share alone, according to IDC, approximately 20.2 percent.

While Acer PCs sold 10.96 million this quarter, up 25.6 percent over the same quarter last year. While Dell is only able to sell 9.96 million PCs, decreased approximately 8.4 percent and Dell’s just making the third position.

However, Acer market share reached 14.0 percent in the whole world. While Dell only having an 12.7 percent market share. Lenovo and Toshiba occupy their respective positions four and five, with a market share of 8.9 percent and 5.2 percent.
