5 Medical Jobs That You Can Do From Home

Working at home is every employee’s dream. For the most part, you escape office politics, traffic, and you might even be able to make your own hours. If this at-home job is in the medical field then you even have job security.

People will always need medical care. Here are 5 medical jobs that you can do from home. Maybe one is right for you.

Medical Transcription

For medical transcription you need the proper training but it is probably the most popular at home medical job. All you do is transcribe notes from a medical professional. You will need to have excellent typing skills and a knowledge of medical terms but this job will offer flexibility and will require only basic computer skills.

While deadlines will probably be put in place for completing your transcriptions, the times of day at which you work will probably be up to you. This flexibility is the perfect answer to a busy home life. You can work around the schedules of children or just work when it is most convenient for you.

Medical Billing

Working from home in medical billing is also an option. You will just need to take care of the usual billing procedures of a medical practice from home. Because much of billing is done over the phone and through the mail anyway, this position lends itself well to being an at-home job. You will need an understanding of medical billing practices and if you enjoy dealing with people then that will help too.

Medical Coding

In medicine, all conditions and treatments are matched up to codes. As an at home medical coder, your job would be to go through medical notes and translate all the information into the proper codes. These codes are used primarily for billing purposes. These codes assist with billing for the medical establishment and for the insurance companies. While this type of position will take some education and some adjustment as you learn how to quickly translate medical documents into codes, it can be a rewarding at-home medical job.

Medical Receptionist

Some medical practices are large enough that they hire at-home workers as medical receptionists. This helps when office space is limited but additional receptionist positions are needed. Making appointments and making follow-up calls can easily be done from the home setting and gives you the perfect opportunity for a work-at-home medical job that only requires the skills of a receptionist.

Data Entry Positions

Some medical practices participate in studies or conduct research. These offices often have large amounts of data that must be input into computer programs for later analysis. Positions in medical data entry are less common but are still viable at-home work options.

These 5 medical jobs that you can do from home can each give you the security of a job in the medical field with the comfort of working at home. If you have been considering working at home then consider these positions. There is a good chance that one of them could work out for you.
